Scott County Hospital and Scott County Clinic provide general medical and surgical care for inpatient, outpatient, and emergency room patients. This 25-bed critical access hospital also includes 2 LDRP suites. The 68,000-square-foot facility, located in Scott City, Kansas, offers a variety of services to support our growing city and surrounding communities.
We are currently seeking a Speech Therapist (Speech-Language Pathologist) committed to providing optimum level of care and strive for excellence in providing quality speech-language pathology services.
SLP's purpose at Scott County Hospital:
Speech-Language Pathologist is to develop and carry out treatment plans for inpatients, outpatients, and Park Lane Nursing Home patients. In addition, SLP's provide training and education to family/caregivers and work collaboratively with other professionals to ensure they're providing the best possible care.
SLP's Functions:
Performs speech and language evaluations following referrals; interprets test results; plans therapy goals, objectives, and therapy sessions; documents patient care; provides therapy and provides written reports to attending physician as necessary.
Performs bedside swallow evaluations, determines least restrictive diet, monitors for overt s/s of asp/pene, communicates with dietary department as needed regarding Pt's diet texture modifications.
Participates in the quality assurance program for the department.
Works with social services concerning speech/language and swallowing needs for discharge planning.
Reports information regarding swing bed patients at the swing bed meetings held each Tuesday at 1 p.m. either in writing or verbal presentation as needed.
Performs other appropriate functions and responsibilities as assigned.
Check SCH emails on a consistent basis, stays up-to-date with trainings
Increases current knowledge and skills through continued education, private research reading and other practical experience.
Must have the ability to interrelate in a positive manner with all types of people, and provide education regarding evaluation results and treatment plans with family members and patient as applicable.

Maintains work space within the department
Maintains inventory and resources related to delivery of speech-language pathology services
Communicates as needed with supervisor, other rehabilitation team members, providers, and other medical staff
Education, Qualifications, Experience:
Licensure in the State of Kansas
Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC’s) from American Speech-Language-Hearing Association, or documented progress toward CCC’s, including required supervision from a certified CCC-SLP, with projected completion date for clinical fellowship
Expectation of Service: This is a non-exempt part-time or full-time position.
