Job Type Full-time Description POSITION TITLE: Sleep Departments Clerk Department: Sleep Lab Reports to: Sleep Center Supervisor Date: 09/13/2021 Purpose of Position: The purpose of the Sleep Department Staff person is to efficiently and effectively schedule outpatient tests, treatments and obtain prior authorization.  Essential Functions: Essential functions include but are not limited to the following: 1 Maintains ancillary department’s schedules. 2 Schedules patients for tests and/or treatments as orders are received, in a timely manner. 3 Cooperates and maintains effective communication with departments’ staff. 4 Completes and delivers No-show/Cancelled appointment forms to ordering physician as per policy. 5 Provides patient notification sheets and instructions for scheduled tests and treatments per policy. 6 Obtain prior authorizations for patient with test or treatment ordered 7 Other tasks as delegated by supervisor as needed. The preceding functions have been provided as examples of the types of work performed by employees assigned in this job classification. Requirements
Requirements Education, Qualifications, Experience: High School education required. Previous work experience in a clerical position preferred. Working knowledge and experience in computer use required. Must have demonstrated ability in written and oral communications and interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with staff and customers. Must be capable of mature and independent judgment, inquiring when necessary, to effectively carry out duties.  Typical Working Conditions: Prolonged time on telephone, and computer work. Contact of patients under wide variety of circumstances. May be exposed to occasional different patient elements. Expectation of Service: This is a non-exempt 40 hour per week position. Regular and punctual attendance is required.   Physical Requirements: This sedentary position requires sitting most of the time at a desk, talking on the phone by handset or headset, and typing at a computer terminal. There is potential for repetitive motion of hand and wrist with these tasks. There is possibility of eye strain when working on the computer for long periods of time. Occasionally requires walking, standing, bending and stooping. Requires adequate hearing and vision, with or without correction, for all types of interpersonal communications.
