Scott County Hospital, located in Scott City, KS, is seeking a qualified Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant, for our facility. Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant Responsibilities:
Effectively identifies, evaluates, and addresses disease prevention and health promotion issues of the population in the practice while administering quality patient care.
Works in an independent and interdependent relationship with members of the medical staff, which allows for consultation, collaboration, or referral.
Responsible for the diagnosis and treatment of acute, chronic, and long-term healthcare issues.
Educates patients and/or families about preventive care, medical issues, and the use of prescribed medical treatments and/or medications.
Maintains legible, accurate, and confidential medical records. Documents all medical evaluations, diagnoses, procedures, treatments, outcomes, education, referrals, and consultations promptly and consistent with regulatory standards.
Facilitates evaluation of records by physician(s), peers, and Quality and Standards according to protocols, and receives and implements constructive directives.
Analyze their clinical practice and perform practice-based improvement activities to improve their patient care practices.
Apply information technology to manage information, access online medical information, and support their continuing education.
Additional Responsibilities:
Contractual obligations include taking 1st emergency call one in four days/evenings and one in four weekends.
Requirements
Education, Qualifications, Experience:
Physician Assistant or APRN degree from an accredited program, diploma from an accredited program, current state license. Must have previous experience in outpatient and emergency room settings. Must have an acceptable criminal background check.
Required Knowledge/Skills: APP skills in medical, minor surgical, and emergency room situations; understanding of safety precautions; infection control procedures for dealing with sharp instruments, needles, blood, and body fluids; understanding of good body mechanics to avoid injury; able to use all related medical equipment, machines, monitors; computer applications. Utilization of critical thinking and judgment in the diagnostic process.
